Lamers in the Night
HELLO. Back from this year’s LCP, hanging out with the C64 elite boys, trying to be friends although everybody is just there to win the compos. Hehe. Lately (as in the last years) I haven’t really been up to the challenge of making those winning songs anymore. The tunes I make at demoparties are usually a bit weirder. So bare with me..
Goto80 – Ponky my C64-song, got #3 in the competition. It’s some kind of dub-blues-rock, or something? Made on a 6581 but sounds best on 8580. The C64-emulator VICE does a pretty good job with this. Or, you can check out the ultra-sloppy remixes: MP3#1 and MP3#2.
Made music for two Amiga releases: Otro’s announcement intro for Mazemod – which is an online Amiga radio channel. (not yet really online though, hehe) And yeah, also made a quick’n’dirty module for the new DUREX release: The Message.
Me and Frantik also did a live-set that might pop up online sooner than Pat Boone. Or Bryan Adams. In the meantime you should definitely check out this youtube-clip – recorded in the middle of the first night of LCP… while you were sleeping, losers! Goto80 + Frantik – Summer of 64

LEDs, Noise and Runebune
Oh, I found this little video recording where me and Rune Bune play live at Microdisko in Copenhagen last November. Unfortunately you can’t see Rune’s C64-visuals as they were on another wall. Some of the photos got some of the magic though. Stu’s liveset was also filmed – here – but Computadora Feliz’s set wasn’t, unfortunately. Anyway, they were shown at Copenhagen local TV (highly recommended, btw!) around christmas aswell apparently. Merry christmas! And here’s a glimpse of the live-jam that happened aswell:

Religious Chip Rock
Another new genre is born: Religious Chip Rock. Check it out at labelable before it’s too late to think it’s too late. It’s C64, microphone, and reverb. And some overdubbbbing. And weird secret software from my secret contemplating dataman. As usual the philosophy is first-recording-is-best-recording.
internet2008.se
Ok, yes. Some kind of non-chip-song-but-maybe-anyway (bleeprave style) added over at the one and only internet place in 2008 – internet2008.se … Oh, and I am not sure what happened to the design here. I blame it all on myspaceyoutube. I am sure it will change back into readable form some time again…
Wastesphere 50O
I went to Compusphere where Up Rough celebrated a 10 year anniversary again. Two Amiga intros released from us – one incredibly fresh, and one incredible mellow – and plenty of music from Qwan, Spot, Mortimer Twang (!), and Syphus. Download within 10 minutes and get an extra free download for free. Forever! I competed with an Amiga song in ST-01 stylee – Waste-Land – which ended #2 in the compo. I also competed with a C64-song that was mysteriously lost and re-appeared under the name kuk. Other good features: making a song with dj cat, laughing gas, goto80+labelable gig, the most expensive and expansive pizza I’ve ever had, the liveset from Sushi Brother, new SID-chip more confusing than ever, defmon, Yoki wiiballs, blablablabla.

03 Goto80 – Ter4
12 Signal Electrique/Goto80 – Plastic Metal
This is a collection of mostly harder/darker, mostly 8-bit, music: x|k, Dispyz, Blue Reverberance, Zooway, Nasenbluten, and myself. Especially nice to see Nasenbluten here, who released Amiga MOD-gabber on vinyl already back in the early 1990s. Go Newcastle hardcore scene! Go check this release out!
V/A: Your Cassette Pet (555 Records MC)

Update: shame trash mash
Hey. Things are a bit slow. Sorry for cancelling my show in Falun, I think it’s the first show I’ve ever cancelled. I had my reasons… Anyway. Just found a nice review of my gig at En Festival i 8 Bitar a while ago: “The seventh artist, GoTo80, the biggest artist of the evening, was probably the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. The only attention I could give him was an irritating look and hands over my ears. The guy was only screaming a lot and gave me a headache. The fact that his name was so big mostly just made me upset. I definitely wanted to go home when he started playing. Luckily, he was the last artist of the evening. Score: 0 of 10” / Jenny
Photo of HT Gold exhibited at the central square of Copenhagen as part of re:new. It’s mega-modified game, running straight from C64. Sorry for disturbing your otherwise standard sunny afternoon of coffee, pölse, and “true indian music” – but the datatrash cannot be stopped! More photos here and here. And by the way, there is some pretty square theoretical chip-art stuff over at chipflip nowadays. Don’t miss out!
HT Gold
If you are in Copenhagen on Saturday, you’ll have the chance to see a hardcore piece of c64 datatrash in 4 by 8 metres, made by Autoboy+me. It’s a game with improved functionality and less competition. It’s not yer usual random-glitch, but the game is still very playable although physics, graphics, sound effects, music, steering, scores, etc, are constantly changed. I am not sure where it will be shown in megasize, but there’ll probably be information over at mikrogalleriet where it will be for 1,5 week more.
